Human population began to increase rapidly after 1600A.D.. Many factors contributed to this rapid growth. Increased sailing and navigating skills stimulated commerce and communication between nations. Agricultural developments, better sources of power, and better health care and hygiene also played a role. We are now in an exponential or J curve pattern of growth.
